Disaster Preparedness Preparation

In light of the recent and devastating LA fires along with recent dangerous alerts for San Diego, PRPC Elder and Deacon Ron Renner will instruct our congregation on disaster preparedness.  All our visitors and the community are welcome to attend.

The recorded video can be viewed here:

Elder Renner previously served as a rescue volunteer for the San Diego Sheriff’s Department of Search and Rescue, which states: “Preparation can mean the difference between life and death,” and, “We must focus our attention on staying calm of our situation around us and not allow our emotions to overwhelm us.”

Most of Mr. Renner’s presentation will draw from these two sources:

“A Personal Disaster Plan,” by San Diego County’s Office of Emergency Services

“Be Prepared, Not Scared,” a community readiness handbook from the Rancho Bernardo United Coalition and Fire Recovery Center

“There will be many examples and easy to read handouts on how to have your home better prepared in advance in case you should ever have to evacuate, including what to take and where and when to leave,” said Mr. Renner.  His theme quote for this presentation is from Benjamin Franklin, who said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”  This will be the second time Elder Renner has given this presentation at PRPC.

In addition, Elder Malcolm Maxwell asked for this sermon in advance of the above event that was preached at PRPC last Lord’s Day evening (focusing on Mark 9:43-48): Flee the Fire that Shall Never be Quenched!
