Providence Preparing for Providence

Dear Saints,

I had the opportunity to speak for chapel at Providence Christian College in Pasadena this Wednesday! Greatly excited about developments this year. And a wonderful opportunity to have lunch with my daughter, Olivia, who is a junior and RA at PCC.

It was amazing providence how God confirmed to me my desire to preach Zechariah 4:6 and 10 for the students, faculty, and staff when I was doubting myself and whether I could pull it off the night before while standing in the checkout aisle of a San Diego Marshall’s–see the photo of the cover of a journal that was lying discarded in the midst of impulse items and connect this with listening through to the end of the message, “Don’t Despise the Day of Small Things!”

Recently, I heard a preacher say what I also have counseled, that we don’t only recognize positive things as “providence” and overlook without testifying also how God is working all things for our good even in “difficult providences,” a term I borrow from my wise systematics professor at RPTS, Dr. Wayne Spear. Still, this moment certainly was happily providential while preparing to speak for Providence!

I wholeheartedly encourage parents and students to take a look at Providence Christian College when planning next steps for after high school, especially in SoCal! Visit providencecc.edu.

Semper Reformanda,

PS: Notice that even the chapel reading from the Westminster Shorter Catechism was topically providential for this post! (Top photo.)
